I recently got my very own DSLR camera!!
Huzah!! It's the Nikon D3100, the same one that Amy recently got.. oddly (and awesomely) enough, we both ended up getting it on the same day!
I owe a huge thanks to my dad, who apparently knew I wanted the camera via my stepmom, who occasionally reads this blog and saw my wish list back in December. They gave Scot and I a really nice gift card to Best Buy for Christmas, specifically to help with said camera (don't worry.. Scot gets a kick out of it too!). Combine that with a few other coupons, offers, and my Best Buy credit card that has 0% interest for 2 years, and I was able to get that sexy piece of picture-taking machinery for a very decent price.
I also bought these two books:
Dumb.
Because, let's face it, just because I now own a fancy-shmancy camera, it doesn't mean I know how to use it. But the point is I soon WILL, and then I can harass my friends and take even more pictures of them, hi-def style. Although the majority of pictures will probably be of my cats.
And.. sadly, the coolest picture I've taken to date.. snow!!

Love the photos and the new camera! I JUST signed up for a photo class through the CC's community education program. I haven't taken photo in 7 years (and that was with a Minolta film) so I'm super excited!
Congrats! I have only about a million pet pictures. They're good models. :) Can't wait to see your pretti-fied posts with the new camera!

I just got a Rebel Canon Xs and I LOVE IT but there's still soooo much to learn. Best of luck learning the ends and outs of your gorgeous Nikon :)
YAYYYY cameras!!! Thanks for the shout-out... I need to order the one specific to the D3100 because I just have the DSLR for Dummies book and it's not as helpful.
I love kitty pictures so at least know you'll always be entertaining me with them! I love the one with the bookshelf!

Like I said the other night, I really need one of those "For Dummies" books for my camera. Because seriously, I've had my DSLR for a year and you know more about it than I do.
