Greatest invention ever.

Or, How I Waste My Time and Life, part 2.

Short and simple: Pinterest. If you haven't heard of this website yet.. now you have. It's fantastic. It's still in it's beta version, but I'm already loving it. And if you have heard of it.. well, you can skip this post but still leave me some comment lovin'.

Or McLovin. Whatevs.

It's basically a website/network that acts as a storage place for pictures of ideas, books, recipes, etc of all the things you have thus far been right-clicking and saving onto your hard drive or clogging up your bookmarks bar with. You can separate the pictures that you "pin" onto different boards and create an extended profile of yourself, your likes and dislikes, favorite places, inspirations, favorite books and movies.. all in picture form. When you go back to click on one of the photos that you pinned, it directs you back to the original website that you took the picture from. This is great for sourcing things if you blog, but also a good way to organize anything in your life. You can also see other people's pins and repin something to one of your boards if you want to. The best part is that it's so super easy.. they have a "bookmarklet" that you install into your internet browser bar to help you pin things.

First, you find a site and a picture you want to pin and click on the "Pin It" bookmarklet (seen circled below) you downloaded in your browser bar.

My choice was Style Me Pretty.. there's a shocker.

When you click on the bookmarklet, a screen pops up with all the pictures on the current page of the site you are on. You find the one you want, and click on the "pin this" button that shows up when you hover on the picture, like the second picture in on the top row, below.

After you click "pin this", the following screen pops up. You can pick which of your boards you want your pin to go to, and write a brief description.

You can then choose to see your pin on your Pinterest page, or resume browsing the web. Here's what my profile looks like so far:

I have a ton of stuff I want for my apartment/future house on "the nest" board I created, and even more in my wedding inspiration board. Scot wants one just to put tattoo ideas on. Hey, whatever works, right?!

Moral of story: this site kicks major ass. Since it's still in the beta version, it's invite only.. I put my name on a waiting list and got invited about a week later. If you want a piece of this awesomeness and don't want to wait, let me know! I have six invites that I've yet to give to anyone!

Also: K-bomb introduced me to Tumblr. I have a very bad feeling that it will become another staple(like I really need another blog), and I sure do hope they have a Droid app for it. I'm thinking pictures. Tons of pictures (and with my new camera, at that!!).

That looks awesome. I doubt I have time to do it, but if I did, I would. I barely have time to blog anymore.

I've been thinking of doing the Tumblr thing too because I don't want to pay for Flickr so I might just do a photography thing with Tumblr.
GAH - what to do what to do.

I've seen people talk about Pinterest, but I had no idea what they were talking about. Sounds pretty fun! Thanks for the explanation :)
