This is one of Banksy's most popular works - also one of my favorites.
Banksy is a British, mostly political graffiti artist who is, as of yet, an anonymous (aka, goes by his pseudonym) figure. Most of his pieces are more like social commentary, and can be seen on streets, walls, and bridges of cities around the world.
A bit from Wikipedia (since it just sounds nicer than what I would write):
Known for his contempt for the government in labeling graffiti as vandalism, Banksy displays his art on public surfaces such as walls and even going as far as to build physical prop pieces. Banksy does not sell photos of street graffiti directly himself; however, art auctioneers have been known to attempt to sell his street art on location and leave the problem of its removal in the hands of the winning bidder.
Honestly, I think we need more people like him in the world.
Another favorite.. you'll see this one around a lot.
I'm not sure how this can be proven, however, since Banksy doesn't directly sell any of his work. While uncovering the man behind the art would be pretty cool, I almost like it better not knowing who he is, exactly. Let him be a graffiti caped crusader.. art, politics, peaceful commentary? We definitely need more of him in the world.

I think this is just amazing, but it makes me sad that someone is selling his supposed identity... we have ever-reduced street art in my neighborhood, although the artsier neighborhoods still have a lot. There is one down the street from us that really reminds me of his work, though, now that I see it! I'll have to take a picture of it and send it to you, maybe you'll know if it's his or not.
Wow, this is so cool! I have got to look into this more because this is just too neat.
I have definitely seen him (or her) floating around the web before but didn't know the story - so awesome!
I love graffiti when done right, I love walking through tunnels and seeing them covered with really awesome art... but I hate people that just deface random buildings and signs with squiggles... I think they should be called two different things. One is art and the other is just rude and offensive.
Anywho... this guy is super awesome, and I agree that his identity should remain unknown... I don't think people would have thought Spiderman was as cool if they found out he was just dorky Peter Parker.
How awesome! Those are absolutely wonderful.
And yeah I agree that his identity should be left alone.
I love street & graffiti art, it's so interesting when artists use the world around them as their canvas.
I actually did a project on graffiti art in college and was able to find so many street artists that I love.
Also, I think it's ok if you have a boy instead of a girl, I can borrow him & put him in funky little vests.
PS You should join Vlog Friday this week!
His artwork is wonderful - I secretly hope he never gets caught!
Amazing work.
I'm angry that someone else would out his identity for money. Really??
