Party!

First off, a brief update about yesterday's prompt: I was telling Scot last night about how the whole 'beautifully different' thing bugged me a bit and how I found it to be a bit tricky. So I looked at him and asked what he thought made me beautiful/different/etc.

His answer? "Tattoos, you have a bunch of tattoos. And a nice butt."

So there you go. Add tattoos and nice butt to the list. Heh.

Prompt 9: Party
What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.
(Author: Shauna Reid)

This one is actually a tie for me - there were two great events that absolutely rocked my socks of this year.

1. January 24th - Funkin' 4 Haiti at Modern club/lounge in DC.

The Haiti earthquake hit on January 12, 2010. Less than two weeks later, Modern whipped up a benefit show, with full proceeds going to the International Red Cross's Haiti fund. There was a $10 minimum donation to get in the door, and part of the bar revenue was also being donated. At the end of the night, the benefit ended up raising over $2,000 - no small feat, since the show was announced mere days before it took place, and it was on a Sunday night.

I NEVER go out Sunday nights, but this was more than worth it. There were five or six DJ's who played during the night, and the crowd was really enthusiastic and just there to support and have a good time. I danced, met new people, chatted - I guess this rocked my socks off because I was having a blast, and it was for a terrific cause. It's such a shame that now, almost a year later, Haiti is still reeling from the quake's aftermath. Another benefit show, anyone?!

One of the only few pics from the night.. with my ladies T and A (bahahahahaha that's amazing)!

2. July 31st - PMTI graduation party in DC

This was truly a party. The two lovely ladies in the above picture graduated with me from massage school, and we decided to have a joint graduation party at T's apartment, since her building has an awesome rooftop. There were probably a total of 20 people there, what with with friends and family and all. The best part? My entire immediate family came, including my dad and stepmom (it's a bit rare for them to come visit). We bbq'ed and drank and chit-chatted and just had a grand, amazing, rock our socks off time. Once parental units and others left, our little group continued hanging out and started a little wine-induced dance party. It was a perfect July night, and it definitely goes down as one of the best parties and nights of 2010, in my book!

Left: T and her hubby K-bomb (that's you're new name, hope you LOVE it) ||| Right: Chillin like villians.

Left: Dancing like a moron (not falling) ||| Right: Benny Ninja pose!!

I sure as heck hope I have nights just as good or better in 2011!!

Sounds like fun times! That last picture of you (not falling down) is hilarious! Haha.

I love Scot's answer for yesterday's prompt. Short, sweet and to the point and the perfect answer for a soon-to-be hubby. ;)
