I think we have a thing for animals

For the past three years, Scot and I have gone to my mom's for Thanksgiving. And for the past three years, we have also gone into NYC to wander around. We always seem to end up at Bryant Park, which is great because I've loved this place my whole life. Around the holidays, they set up an ice rink in the middle of the park with little booth type things featuring local vendors. There are booths with warm drinks, homemade soaps, unique jewelry, warm fuzzy hats, and ornaments that you can personalize.

Well, we decided that we'd be cute and start collecting personalized ornaments.

The first year (2008), we played it safe:

Cute, right? Our first Christmas living together, he calls me penguin feet (don't ask), etcetcetc. Barf.

Our next Christmas, I picked one out, and so did he. This was mine:

Aren't I so funny and playful, with my silly monkey in a santa hat? No. I'm not. THIS is funny:

Yep. Scot decided to get a flying pig, to honor the year of the swine flu. You should have seen the look on the personalizer's face. I wanted to run away from being so non-PC. Still makes me laugh every time I see it though, so that's good ;)

And this year, well.. there's a bit of me and a bit of Scot involved.

I opted for monkeys again (why..?!) and Scot opted for the year written in the heart to represent our future 30th Christmas together. Again, the personalizer's face said it all. Poor guy.

Do you guys have any Christmas traditions, regardless of how crazy they seem?

Although I would have been pissed/embarrassed if my hubs did the pig thing, that is really funny too. I also really love the monkeys!!! We get ornaments from places that we travel. We got married this past summer on St. George Island, FL (which is really small), and they sadly did not have ornaments. I am hoping to find a bride and groom ornament for our first christmas married though!!

We don't have ANY ornaments together. We don't have any ornaments AT ALL. Okay, I'm stopping with my all caps but for realzies, I want to put my tree up. Waah.

The monkeys are my fave, having an ornament for your thirtieth Christmas is a cute idea. :)

Cutest tradition ever! I might have to 'borrow' this from you!
