Remember how pretty it was? Well, apparently it was ashamed of being all blingtastic before December even started, because this happened:
It looks so ashamed :(
And we didn't decorate the back because you can't SEE the back.
I will admit that Tully didn't do it, even though the picture above is very incriminating.
I think I did it :(
The tree is rather large and the stand we put it in was a little broken, but we never had problems in the past, so we figured we'd be fine.
Slowly but surely, the tree started leaning forward throughout the day when we put it up, so we adjusted it, but it felt pretty sturdy. Cue me coming home from work last Monday; it was REALLY leaning forward. So to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I stuck my hand in the middle of the tree trunk to see if I could push it back, which I could. We're talking about 8 inches of wobbliness here. So I gently let it resume it's Leaning Tower of Pisa stance and decided to wait until Scot got home so he could fix it. Cause he's the man.
About five minutes later, Tully started getting the crazy eye and was spazzing out. He was glaring at and backing away from the tree, which I thought was hysterical, so I picked him up and brought him closer to the tree to show him nothing was wrong.
And then it fell. Damn cat, having instincts and stuff.
A few ornaments broke, but thankfully we're big cheapos and just had the bulk pack from Target or Walmart or something, so it didn't really matter. And the H1N1 pig is fine.. I know you were curious.
Anyway.. we put it back up and finally redecorated last night. It was actually kind of a good thing, because the lights really needed to be redone, but I didn't realize that until after we decorated the first time and I didn't want to undecorate and redecorate just to fix the lights. Looks like the fates had other plans.
Since Scot didn't help me decorate last time, I made him help this time. As I'm using my artistic eye to carefully place the cheap colored bulbs all over the tree, I glance over to see what is taking Scot so long to get his butt in gear, and I see this: (warning - shirtless male ahead)
No words. I can't decide if he's a genius or just crazy ;)
Oh.. and Tully is a-ok with Christmas tree 2.0:
Has anyone else had any (pre)Christmas mini (or mega) disasters?
((PS. Reverb10 post a bit delayed today, as I must take pictures after work to go along with it!))

when I saw the picture I thought FOR SURE the cat had something to do with it! Shocking almost that she didn't do it.
Last year we had bells on our tree and Vada would get them off at 3am and play all. night. long. it was horrible. By the time Christmas was over I had like 2 bells left. This year I bought glass bulbs (I'm a cheapo too and they were on sale for $3) and tied them tighter than ever on the tree. No causalities yet. (Cross your fingers).
We have a little Christmas tree, but when I get home to my parents, she usually goes wild.
I thought it was the cat, too! That really stinks that the tree fell, but at least not a total disaster.
Hehehehehe...he's a genius. Only a guy would come up with that one. :P
