Vegas, baby! Day 2.. Kicking it up a notch

Saturday morning saw Scot and I up around 9am PST. A quick call down to the concierge for some toothpaste and brunch recommendations soon brought us over to The Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood, since they were offering a fantastic deal of brunch + unlimited mimosas for $24.99 per person. A deal, if you ask me!

So, as previously mentioned, we stocked up and drank up.

Nom'erific.

Much fuller and a bit tipsy, we made our way back to the MGM casino in order to meet up with Scot's brother, E, to gamble a bit.

Funny story here: E usually does pretty well at gambling, especially blackjack (the man is seriously a genius.. not sure how that affects anything, but he is). The wires must have gotten crossed somehow because after about 45 minutes of Scot and I playing blackjack back at MGM, we heard back from E wondering where we were, and that he was actually at Planet Hollywood and just lost $300, so his gambling was over for the time being.

I looked at Scot and laughed, because as we were leaving Planet Hollywood earlier, we noticed a roped off section called "The Pleasure Pit" in the middle of the casino floor. Here you could find attractive, very busty (aka boobilicious) women as dealers, whose obvious task was to distract male (and female?) gamblers and make them lose. I don't have a picture, but the look was very similar to that at The Pussycat Doll lounge in Caesars Palace:

Me-yow.

Since E was done gambling and Scot's sister S wanted us all to meet at the pool, we got some drinks to-go and did as such. Once at the pool the following convo occurred:

E: So yea, I lost $300 in half an hour and decided I'm done for the time being.

Scot: Yea man, that sucks. You were doing so good last night.

Me: (half-teasing) You were at the Pleasure Pit, weren't you?!

E: Yep.

HAH I'm sorry but if you were there, it was just too funny. Especially since everyone around us got quiet at the exact right time. Teaches all you fine ladies and gentlemen that big boobs = big distraction. Duh. Gamble elsewhere if you actually want to, you know, win.

So! We were chilling at the pool until it closed at 5pm, since the weather was nice to us and stayed in a pleasant range of 76-80 degrees the whole time we were there.

Left: S, E, and Scot.. sibling love <3 ||| Right: self-explanatory

Then Scot and E decided to reignite sibling rivalry just as we were leaving (all in good fun, no worries!), and we got yelled at by the pool marshal.

I have to admit, I thought it was kind of cute because yours truly is an only child and
I never had this type of camaraderie with anyone.
It's nice to marry into such a big (to me) and wonderful family.

After a rather relaxing morning and afternoon, we all eventually went back to our respective rooms to prep for our "big night" in Vegas, which consisted of..

1. a limo!!

I sure do love me some limo action.
From left: meScot, sister S, bro-in-law M, brother E, cousins L&T, super mustached driver

The limo took us to...

2. dinner at a brazilian steakhouse (Texas de Brazil)! Now, myself and L (one of M's cousins) don't eat red meat or pork, so you wouldn't think we'd be as excited as we were. However, they had a whole "sides bar" that was the equivalent to a classy buffet that we were both more than happy to fill up on. Everyone else turned their little "go" cards over to green and the meat on sticks kept coming.

Pork and filet. Looks juicy.

About half-way through dinner, we realized that S had gone missing; apparently she took a cab back to the hotel to get in a quick nap before the second half of our night. I honestly don't blame her, because at that point I was feeling pretty wiped out myself and Scot was seriously almost falling asleep at the table. The man loves his beer, and he was forgoing Guinness in order to drink coffee with his dinner.

But have no fear! We were able to keep our eyes open and meet back up with S so we could see..

3. Zumanity by Cirque du Soliel!

Ohhh la la!

I've heard such amazing things about this show, so I was super excited to see it. It boasts nudity, leather, burlesque dancing, and comedy. Sounds perfect, right?

Well.. eh. It was ok. There were topless women, but nothing that really kept the men entertained.. I'm dead serious. Scot, E, and M were all struggling to not get distracted and fall asleep. There was one act in the show where two very limber women did crazy backbends and dives into a big bowl filled with water, which was the highlight. My issue lies with the fact that Cirque is usually amazing because it's Cirque.. I've seen numerous shows by them that had my mind completely blown. This, to the majority of our group, seemed like just another racy Vegas show that they were able to charge an arm and a leg for because it has Cirque du Soliel's name behind it. Moral of the story: if you go to Vegas, your money very well may be spent better elsewhere. It pains me to say it, but it's true.

Anyway, that concludes mine and Scot's night. My poor man just wanted to go to bed already, and I was more than happy to join because the next day, Sunday, was to be our big sightseeing day!!

Hope you're enjoying reading as much as I'm enjoying reliving some of our mini-vacation :)

WOW! Sounds amazing!! My boyfriend too is an only child like you and I come from a big family so in confuses him when we fight and then make up the next day. Or when we buy each other presents for no reason at all.

You are so lucky to have gone on this trip! I hope I can go some day!

By the way, you have some blog love waiting for you. Come check it out!

So much fun! I love the driver haha. What quality facial hair.

And I can't believe Cirque could put on a bad show? That's crazy... They probably don't even need to make it good because everyone will go just because it's Cirque...

@Jumble Mash THANK YOU for the shout out and award!! Will respond to it in the next few days!

@cheryl The show wasn't bad per say, it just wasn't anything spectacular, you know? And I agree.. I think Cirque is just trying to corner the market and are growing 'too big too fast' almost. It's a shame :(

I'm sorry Cirque didn't impress, but I'm glad you gave us your review though. You just saved me some bucks!

I really want to see one of their shows!
