I'm not doing a further demonstration. That's all you get. Oh, and this picture/better example:
Gate. Box. Pillow. And Tully STILL manages to open the door.
So that's the story with the baby gate. It seriously is a process. Ridiculous. And we did this whole set up again last night, complete with blanket to cover the gate, and Tully still managed to knock everything over and open the door and climb onto my head and start drooling. I (almost) give up.
As for the child locks, here's what we had to do in our apartment (and the last one we were at, as well):
This is to hide the bag of cat food from them. We get the big ol' bags from PetSmart that last for at least a month, and thought if we just put it in the cabinet to hide it, we'd be good. That was a fail. They can open the cabinets.
So why don't we just seal the top of the bag shut, you may ask?
Because they chew through the bag. Plastic coating and all. We would end up with a bag with so many holes in it that it was pretty much ineffectual since there was more cat food in the cabinet than in the bag. Hence, the child locks. They work like magic!!!
So now that you think I'm nuts and that I hate my cats, I really don't. We tried keeping them in the bedroom many times, but it just doesn't work if we actually want to sleep. They're really fine in the living room area over night, and manage to keep themselves plenty busy.
And one final thing.. I wrote on Twitter a few days ago how Tegan just sits on our bathroom counter and stares at herself and meows, and had some requests to share a video of this. Since I am now amazing with technology, here you go:

She's so freaking vain.

too funny. Our cat knows how to wake us up too.. and you know that's their sole intention right? hahaha
A while ago, she used to come in the room and scratch the dresser so we had to line pillows up along the dresser so she wouldn't scratch them, eventually she ended up figuring how to move the pillows. So we had to throw her out of the room every time... she eventually stopped.
Now... she knows it's not a problem and only uses it as a weapon against us when she REALLY wants us to get up.
Cats are too funny.
LOL This is hilarious! Aren't animals smart?? I absolutely cannot put my dog in any fenced in area because he can escape ANYTHING. He has to be tied up. It's crazy to me that he can climb over a fence but can't even get his fat butt up on the bed without my help.
You have the smartest cats ever. My dog doesn't even realize his dog food bag sits open on the floor in the kitchen.
Hahahaha!! I finally had a chance to see this - hilarious! I love silly animals with personality.
I still can't believe you do that every single night! Good thing your kitties are totally cute and totally worth it!!
As I watched the video of Tegan meowing at herself in the mirror, my cats came right over to where I was sitting and looked really concerned lol.
