The service was held on Monday at her church in Florida - Scot and I were fortunate enough to find the time and funds to fly down and be a part of it. It was a bit hectic since we were already away from home in upstate New York for a week, then had to drive back down to Maryland and straight to the airport on Sunday in order to fly to Florida and come back home within 48 hours. A whirlwind, for sure, but worth it nonetheless.
I won't get into too many details, but I will say that they did a wonderful job of honoring her at the service.
Sassy lady, right? I was actually named after her maiden name, Stephans!
At the end of the service, we laid her ashes to rest in the church's columbarium - it's basically a place with niches for burial urns to be kept. The one at the church was really unique and beautiful, as it had different square niches aligned under a raised cross.
The family and some church friends went out to lunch after the service to both honor and celebrate my grammy's life; I loved hearing some of the stories about her when she was younger. It was also nice to see my grampy and be there to support him and help around the condo a bit.
The loss is definitely hard, but I appreciated being able to attend the service and be around a supportive family. Grammy was very well loved, and she will always, always be a part of my life.

Such a wonderful way to honor her. She seemed a bit sassy and very beautiful!
I think you're a southern girl being named after your grandmother's maiden name!
I'm glad you were able to make it to her funeral, she was beautiful.
I'm so happy they were able to honor her in the best way possible. :)
