It started out all well and good. First, we went to Middle Ages Brewery in Syracuse for a (free!) beer tasting.
Naturally, we walked out of there with a big ol' bag of goodies. Yay birthdays!
Then we went to none other than Dinosaur BBQ. I've said it before, I'll say it again, obsessed.
So much deliciousness. I may have eaten everything on my plate.
So after having a foodgasm at Dinosaur, we went back to Scot's friend Adam's place (where we were staying), only to find some tasty looking birthday cupcakes awaiting!
How cute is Louka the pup?!
And then.. well then I woke up and didn't feel so good. I thought I probably just ate too much (and too much heavy food, at that) and just needed to let my stomach settle with some rest and peppermint tea. But it never got better; about 5 hours later, my stomach went from being nauseous to crampy, and the cramps got so bad that I could hardly sit up. Adam's mom happens to be a nurse, so Scot called her over to the house to do an impromptu check. Her conclusion was that I either had a kidney stone, UTI, or kidney infection. Super cool.
So we went to the ER. At 11pm on my birthday. Fortunately, Adam's mom has connections at the hospital, so we didn't have to wait too long. I'll spare you the details, but the big conclusion was that it was stress induced pain. Which makes sense with all that has been going on lately; I'm glad nothing was actually wrong, but then again, it's annoying, you know? Not to mention the fact that I felt terrible for having Scot and his friend's mom stay at the hospital with me until 4am.
Dearest 26th year of my life: please don't suck as much as you started.
On the bright side, I felt 100% back to normal the next day, just in time for the pig roast!
Anyone else ever have an "adventure" of sorts on your bday?

UGH ARE YOU SERIOUS? That's awful :( But I hear you on the stress stomach pains, I have them ALL THE TIME. I hope you enjoyed the time you actually got to have fun on your birthday!
Oh boo to stomach pains! I hope the rest of your 26th year makes up for the first day!
Well, besides the hospital, it sounds like you had a decent birthday! I'm glad it wasn't anything severe.
way to bring it in with a bang! :( i'm sorry lady, hope you're feeling better??
Happy Belated Birthday! Sorry I missed it!
Sucks you were in the hospital but sooo glad you were ok. Stress induced pain is way better than kidney stones!
The first half of your b-day sounded FANTASTIC! And yum, cupcakes! So sorry about the blow-y later half. The only "bad" adventure I had on my birthday, was my 17th b-day party.
Jen and I had been talking all day, as we were still long distance and obviously very much in love and the phone was our only way of "being together" on my b-day. I was celebrating after I was off the phone and my big sister decided THAT was the day to get jealous and she screamed, cursed and wished bad luck on our relationship in the middle of my party.
We exchanged "I really hate you!"'s and door slamming. It took a week or two, but she pleaded and apologized non-stop and I forgave her and it's been fine ever since. :P
happy belated birthday
Okay, first of all, so sorry about the trip to the hospital but I'm so glad that everything is okay!
Now on to the fun stuff - beer, bbq and cupcakes?! My kind of birthday! But I must say, that bbq looks so different to me. Like, where's the brisket, sausage, mounds of sliced white bread, and pickles? I guess Texas bbq is just different from the rest of the world. It looks really yummy though!!
Oh no!! I'm so sorry!! But, I'm glad that everything turned out ok, and I'm sure 26 will be on the upswing!
Oh no! I am so sorry you had to deal with that, on your birthday of all days! :(
Ack!! Glad you're feeling better now and it wasn't too serious!
