Okokokokok. The other day I just kind went BAM and told you that my license nonsense got figured out. That wasn't a really satisfying end to the story, was it?
No.
Bad blogger.
Here's the rest of the story, if you are so interested:
Basically, the second I got a lawyer on the case, things happened rather quickly.
As I mentioned, I 'hired' a lawyer/coworker last Wednesday, who was able to get in touch with the DOH's attorney. She said that she personally needed to get in touch with the person who handles the criminal background checks, and would get back to me/lawyer friend as soon as she could.
Lawyer friend called me around 5:30pm last Thursday and said he got a call from the DOH attorney, saying that they did indeed make a mistake with my background check.
Oh gee. Well there's a shocker.
Anyway.. paperwork and such was supposed to take a day or two, and everything should be sorted out well before I had to start my new job. I actually got a call the next day.. last Friday.. from the licensing specialist, saying that she was in the process of signing off on my license. Bring on Tuesday, when I actually got my real license in the mail!
Hellz yea! And yes, that is oh so coincidentally my massage table in the background =D
I decided that I needed to thank the three main people who helped me out so much at work, so I spent a pretty penny today on some quality vino for them.
I figure I'll leave them for said coworkers tomorrow before I leave.. for the day, and for good.
I'm actually pretty said about leaving. Tomorrow will be my last day, and I'm much more emotional than I thought! Of course, I am so excited to be moving on to something so much more fulfilling and satisfying, but all the people at the law firm are just so wonderful. I started the job about a week after I moved down to the DMV area from Philly.. it's been there all through massage school, all through the time I was adjusting to living in a different state, all through the time where I was getting used to living with another person.. ultimately the person I will be marrying. And to make matters worse (or even better!), my replacement at the law firm? Amazing. I'm telling you right now that we are going to be really good friends. We kind of bonded immediately, which I feel can be really rare. I'm pretty ecstatic about our new friendship!
So, long story short (again).. all things happen for a reason? I like to think so.
I'm posting this so late on Thursday as to observe the Blogger's Day of Silence in honor of the Japan earthquake and tsunami.
I hope you all have fantastic weekends!

Congratulations!!!
EEK! That's so exciting!!
I can imagine it must be hard leaving work, but you can keep in touch with everyone!! :)
YAY!! That's so great. I'm so glad you were able to get everything straightened out.
I know what you mean about being emotional leaving work. I left a job where I hated the work but loved the people and definitely got choked up on my last day. And I was only there for 6 months! So it's ok to be a little sad. Just know you're on to bigger and better things. We'll celebrate with a drink (and some queso) tomorrow!!
YAY!!!!!!! I totally meant to congratulate you in the earlier post and I don't know what happened! That is such exciting news and I can't wait to hear about your massage adventures! I can imagine being a little sad about leaving a job you really loved the people at, but, like you said, things are going to work better for you in the long run!
Drink a glass of wine for me!
AND! Well, whoops. On the blogger's day of silence, there I go blabbing away.
((I'm doing blogger day of silence too...but does that mean I can still comment...because I'm bored at work...hmm))
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm glad they got it straightened out. Now, I'm on my way for a massage. :)
Hooray!!
Congrats on the license!! So happy for you. :)
