Fashionably late to the Name Game

Happy Monday lovebirds!

So I saw this fun little survey a few weeks ago on Laura's blog, Happy Hour with a Housewife, and kept it open in my browser ever since, since I meant to fill it out as well. Then life got busy. Then everyone else started filling it out. So.. here I am, a bit late to the game!

1. How did your parents decide on your name?
It was actually after my grandmother's maiden name, Stephens. So, I would have been Stephen if I was a boy, and Stephanie if I was a girl. Which I am. Hi!

2. Do your initials (first/middle/last) spell anything funny?
No. SCN. Although my first initial and my last name together make me laugh.

3. Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you drop your middle name & take your maiden name as your middle name? (Or if unmarried, what do you plan to do?)
Well.. I have a middle name that I was given. I will likely drop my last name and take Scot's when we get married, so it'll be Stephanie Christine Lastname. I remember my mom made her maiden name her middle name when her and my dad got married.. it was so weird to hear her middle name as her last name once they got divorced! My last name couldn't act as a middle, though. No way no how.

4. Are you or will you name your children systematically? (ie, same first letter, same origin, etc)
Not on purpose. Those Duggar's are crazy with all the J names.. I'm 99% sure they're just making shiz up now.

5. Did you decide on baby names as a little girl? Did you stick to them or change your mind?
I think of baby names now.. does that count? I really like Madeline (or anything that can be shortened to Maddy), Zooey (spelled like Deschanel), and Ryden for girls. For guys, I like Aiden and Luke.

6. Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
Not that I'm aware of. I know my dad's middle name is his father's first name, but that's about it.

7. Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
I look at the meaning, mostly because I always liked what my name meant - "crowned one". I used to run around telling everyone I was a princess. Yes I am an only child.

8. Do you name pets with human names or pet names?
Hrmm. Both? I've had: Luther the dog, Simba the cat, Alvin the cat, Josie and Pokey the hamsters, Moe and Joe the twin cats, and right now, Tegan and Tully the cats. So.. I guess half of those are human names?

9. Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience/someone you once knew?
I'm not really a fan of Jennifer for random reasons. And I don't like names like Denise, Karen, Betsy, etc. I guess they seem a bit dated to me? I don't know, I don't have a real reason for that. Just my bias ;)

10. What are some of your favorite names and why?
Well.. I went through a phase where I demanded everyone to call me Sophie when I was younger. I was obsessed with that name, I think just because it sounded pretty. Currently, I love the name Stesha - it's actually a nickname of sorts for Stephanie.. so.. call me Stesha from now on. Kthanks.

My aunts name is Betsy and I hate it, I never understood why anyone would WANT to be called that. Her real name is Elizabeth... ?

LOVE Aiden and Zooey, exactly how you have them spelled.
