Why am I writing about this? Because I do it. Like, 6 days a week. Then I wear jeggings on the 7th day.
Lots of people totally hate this trend, and to be honest, when I see it on other people, I kind of hate it too. It's mostly only if you have your whole booty showing.. that's a little much for me. I know you all know what I'm talking about. However, if you pair it with a nice long shirt or tunic or something of the sort, more power to you. I think it looks stylish and comfy and oh so good for winter.
I also don't think leggings = tights. They're a good crossover, for sure, but they are not tights. Trust me. As a dancer who had to wear tights every day of my life for 20 years.. leggings have about 10 notches on tights.
Anyway, 99% of the time, I make sure to cover the booty when I sport the leggings (and jeggings). You also have to understand that I'm a massage therapist who has the liberty to wear pretty much whatever I want at work.. and it's actually quite a physical job. Since I don't think my polar pajama pants would be acceptable, I wear leggings. I also think they make me look skinny (no extra fabric to bulk me up), and they let me stretch (which I'm kind of a freak about). So there's that. I even have a pair in gray and a pair in brown.. I mean, who does that? Who gets leggings in colors?
As hard as I try, though, I did kind of break the cardinal rule yesterday.
They allow for maximum expansion from all that sugary goodness.
Where do you stand on the L.A.P. debate? Are you a leggings addict like I apparently am at the moment, or are you just a casual wearer?
Wear 'em tight, wear 'em proud, girls.
PS. Everyone says don't apologize for going MIA in the bloggy world.. so I'm NOT apologizing. (Although I am sorry. Only 'cause I miss it and I miss you all!)

Time and time again I tell you, you do not count in this argument.
Pass #1: It's basically your uniform at work.
Pass #2: You don't have jiggle and grossness.
Pass #3: I know you personally and really like you, so that gives you an auto-pass. You're lucky. ;)
Oddly enough, I don't mind jeggings as pants.
Leggings are my wekeend staple. If I could get away with wearing them to work, I would. Ok, sometimes I sneak them in on Fridays....but like you I like them with a tunic or somehting that covers upa little.
Well it seems that you pull the look off very well and since it's the most comfortable (and appropritate) thing for your job, I think its fine. Also, the shirt only needs to cover the booty if you are leaving the house. If you are baking cookies this is an exception!
Lol - As Emily said: you don't jiggle, you rock that look and are hot.
Leggings as pants are a staple for me too! I am with you on the hiding of the booty 90% of the time. Leggings are just so comfortable, I can't NOT wear them. :)
You're right, as long as there's SOME ass coverage, you're okay. But leggings should not be see-through in any way. Also, let's face it, women need to dress for their bodies. For instance, I don't like how my shoulders look in sleeveless tops, so I don't wear sleeveless tops. Some women probably shouldn't wear leggings. Jus sayin'.
bahahahhahahahhaha I love this. I totally read the first part of this and was like oh shit another don't wear leggings as pants post or hateorade on it... then it took a turn for the wonderfulness. I seriously wear leggings as pants 4-6 days a week and jeggings the other 1-3. Comfort all the way and as long as you wear GOOD leggings (mine are tna or lulu) you avoid the see-throughness, the camel toes and cellulite peaking through. I never wear really short shirts anyway, but I've worn tees as pictured above, but I say as long as they're approaching the butt, you're all good. I just think it looks good and have absolutely no problem with it. If someone wants me on What Not to Wear, fine. I'll just buy really good leggings with my $5000 budget.
