Anyway. When Scot and I first moved in together about 3 years ago, our apartment was a huge mish-mash of mismatching furniture, as any new cohabiting couple's would be. While it was mostly all his, a lot of it was compromised of hand-me-downs from his older sister. It worked for a while, but we finally decided it was time to get our own stuff, one piece at a time. Our living room is now 99% brought to you by Ikea. And it matches, which is awesome. Slowly but surely, we are going from my version of a bachelor(ette) pad to a real life, grown up apartment!
But this post isn't about our living room. It's about our bedroom. More specifically, our bed.
And a fat cat, apparently.
Do you see that mess? It's like someone threw up rainbow sheets all over the place. The comforter doesn't even have a cover on it right now (so.. worse than the picture). There is also no top sheet, because Scot can't stand them for some reason.
I'm actually kind of embarrassed to be sharing this with you.
But I need to, because I need you all to tell me (read: Scot) that it is high time for at least an appropriate bedding set (the furniture can come later). I want to love my cushy, memory foam bed even more (like that's even possible, psh).. and I know I would if it had nice, beautiful bedding to accent our bold teal wall (I finally took down those black flower things, btw).
I am officially a Susie Q homemaker wannabe. I'm ok with it.
So as far as duvet covers and pillow shams go, I'm super loving a lot of the ones Urban Outfitters has right now.
Yes, I know they are all some shade of turquoise or teal, but I can't help it; it's an addiction. Each duvet has matching pillow shams, so all I would need is a few nice sets of matching sheets and regular pillow covers (from Home Goods, perhaps?), and presto! We would have a grown-up bed.
Now I just need to figure out a way to get Scot to let me put on the top sheet.
Do you know of any places with affordable bedding sets? And was it a struggle to find a happy bedding situation compromise with your SO?

Seriously woman this has to stop. WHY ARE WE THE EXACT FREAKIN SAME!!!!??? You'll understand this TOMORROW when you see my scheduled post that I wrote yesterday. Seriously what the hell..
I also hate top sheets. HATE.
You're going to die when you see my post and that's all I have to say.
Word of advice regarding duvet covers from UO - they're small. I got the ruffled one in grey for Christmas in a queen (which is what our bed is) and it was waaaaaaaay too small. Like, WAY too small. I would have had to order a King to make it fit, and it was quite a bit more. Just keep that in mind, and maybe order a size up, if you can!
Something to remember that is easy to forget - dont get white. Try to stay away from any white at all. It is going to get incredibly dirty. We bought a nice white/green comforter set with pillows and the whole get up. Yeah, we dont use that anymore because with the dog + 2 cats that shed like none other it was impossible to keep nice looking! Which sucks because that Chevron one is my fave!
Honestly, I hate the top sheets too. I hate the texture of 'em! Anyway, Jen and I are so much alike and we enjoy picking out fun bedding, so we didn't really have to compromise! Right now, though, we're sleeping on a futon with a Christmas quilt as the "sheet." :P But it's actually quite comfy! Plus since our room is also our office/living room, it's really convenient!
If you find any good deals, let us in on it! We have to buy new sets every couple of years, because between a dog and two cats, the comforters always end up with major wear and tear.
We had to come to terms about the top sheet as soon as we started dating. I love the ruffle duvet but skipped it when we were looking for one. West Elm has some wonderful options and the one we got is Amy Butler from Bed, Bath & Beyond and I LOVE it.
What lovely bedroom inspiration! I love the idea of teal :)
